The Circus

Who: The Circus

Where: New Delhi

How: Started around three years ago, made it to Channel [V]’s Launchpad finals, gigged around the country and are soon to release their album, ‘From Space’. Managed by Grey and Saurian.

What: The Circus sounds like everything you loved about old-school Incubus, but with their own idiosyncracies and love for funk. Guitarist Arsh Sharma sets the stage for a rocking time with beds of warped ambient guitars, but isn’t afraid to step on the distortion and kick things into high gear. Experimental bassist Abhinav Chaudhary and drummer Anshul Lall bring some tight, wicked grooves that help set this band apart from the rest of India’s alt-rock set. Abhishek Bhatia on vocals truly shines, perfectly blending in with the mix and yet managing to soar above the sound. The lyrics aren’t memorable, unfortunately. If you’re looking for an uncontrived sound and love your music served hot, turn to the Circus. Be sure to check out the hard-rocking track ‘Japanese Rebellion‘ on their myspace page.

Catch them on their Myspace and Facebook pages.
